Welcome to the UCLA/ VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program. The field of Physical Medicine and Rehab is constantly evolving and we are proud to be a part of this exciting process. Our program has been in existence since 1955 and to date, we have trained more than 200 physiatrists. We offer advanced training, starting at the PGY2 level.

Currently, the program has 26 residents. We have 26 full-time faculty members who are primarily dedicated to educating and supervising residents and fellows in the training program. These clinical attendings are based at the main and affiliated institutions. In addition to the above staff, residents will also work with many part-time and voluntary faculty from various institutions and the private sector.

We are a multicampus training program comprised of a family of affiliated hospitals in the Los Angeles areas (Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System (West LA and Sepulveda), UCLA Medical Center, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Centinela Freeman Memorial Hospital, Long Beach VA Healthcare System, Long Beach Memorial Hospital, and Rancho Los Amigos National Rehab Center). We offer a well balanced curriculum evenly divided between outpatient and inpatient rotations.

The residency program shares resources and faculty with the Pain Medicine fellowship program. Staffed by Physiatrists, Anesthesiologists, Psychologists, Neurologists, and Psychiatrists, this program offers a multidisciplinary approach to pain management. Thus, the residents will have the opportunity to learn and have exposure to various evaluations and treatment methods in pain management, including post-operative care and interventional pain procedures.

I’m looking forward to meeting you during your visits, rotations or interviews here.

Best Regards,

Quynh Pham, MD
