Sounds of Veterans cheering and clapping echoed the hallways as the team of three volunteers marched in the CLC Dining Facility carrying their precious cargo. Colorful arrays of blue, yellow, red, pink, green and brown fabrics sewed in clever little patterns were meticulously pulled out of the bags. One black quilt, designed with red and purple patterns received a cheerful applause while another Red, White and Blue quilt caught the eye of a World War II Veteran who cheerfully claimed the Patriotic throw as his own. Polytrauma, Providing Care to Carlos

Carlos is a Veteran with TBI who five years ago was one of the first patients referred to Polytrauma at the VA West Los Angeles. At the time, Carlos was unemployed, living in a domiciliary on the VA GLA campus, and couldn’t remember how to perform even the simplest actions. Today he has his own apartment, has held a steady job for the past year, and is attending Santa Monica Community College.
