Steven E. Braverman, M.D. was appointed to the role of Medical Center Director, VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, effective September 29, 2019. Prior to this appointment Dr. Braverman served as the Hospital Director of the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital for three years. A native of Baltimore, MD, he retired from the Army on October 31, 2016 after 29+ years of service in the Army Medical Corps as a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician. Dr. Braverman’s Army leadership assignments include: Director (Commander), Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Director (Cdr.), Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, TX, and Director (Cdr.), Ireland Army Community Hospital, Fort Knox, KY. Staff positions include Chief Consultant to the Army Surgeon General and Chief, Program Analysis and Evaluation. He deployed to Iraq as the Multi-National Corps–Iraq Deputy Surgeon for Clinical Operations in 2008-2009. Dr. Braverman is Board Certified by the American Board of PM&R and served as an examiner for their oral board certification exam. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Academic Physiatrists, the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture, and the American Board of Medical Acupuncture. Dr. Braverman’s military awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal. He is a recipient of the “A” designator award for professional expertise, the Order of Military Medical Merit, and the General Claire L. Chennault Award for teaching excellence.

Robert McKenrick was appointed as the Executive Director of Care Centers and Clinics in the Community at GLAHS on November 26, 2017. He has served as Director/Deputy Director for Transportation Security Administration (TSA); Director Veterans Benefits Administration in Philadelphia, PA and Greater Los Angeles, CA. He has a diverse background that includes significant financial, administrative, and management assignments. Mr. McKenrick served in the United States Army with over 28 years and as an Officer, has led special assignments and oversaw regional and national operations. McKenrick will oversee delivery of health care provided to our Veterans in our Greater Los Angeles Community Based Outpatient Clinics. Mr. McKenrick was born in Elmira, New York. He attended Eastern Kentucky University receiving a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Police Administration; Webster University receiving a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Security Management; University of Pennsylvania receiving a M.A. degree in Government Administration; Temple University receiving a Juris Doctorate; and the United States Army War College receiving a M.A. degree in Strategic Studies. He has served combat tours in Iraq with the 1st Cavalry and 4th Infantry Divisions. His awards include the Legion of Merit Medal, Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster and Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters.

Meghan Flanz was appointed as the new Executive Director for the Master Plan of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. In her new position, Ms. Flanz will lead the Draft Master Plan implementation which calls for revitalizing the 388-acre VA West LA Medical Center campus into a vibrant community for Veterans to receive healthcare, benefits, employment and one-of-a-kind supportive services for the most vulnerable Veterans, to include permanent supportive housing for homeless Veterans. She will be a key leader in maintaining transparency, engagement, and effective collaboration with our community partners who share VA’s vision for a truly Veteran-centric campus. Ms. Flanz comes to GLA with more than 16 years of leadership experience working for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Among other roles, she has served as VA’s Deputy General Counsel and Acting General Counsel; as Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Administration; and as Executive Director and founder of the Office of Accountability Review. A Los Angeles native, Ms. Flanz earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley and her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Prior to joining VA, she practiced law in several private L.A. law firms; wrote for a local newspaper; and chaired a support group for parents of pediatric cancer patients.

Dr. George was appointed as the Acting Chief of Staff for the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, effective November 26, 2018. Dr. George previously served GLAHS as the Associate Chief of Staff for Operations. He received his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed internship and residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, served for 2 years in the US Army Medical Corps in Southwest Germany, and then completed Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the Wadsworth VA Medical Center. Dr. George served in the following positions at GLAHS: Chief, Infectious Diseases Section; Associate Chief of Staff for Ambulatory Care; Associate Chief, Medical Service; Acting Chief of Medical Service. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. He is a Fellow of the American college of Physicians and a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America.

Ms. Marcia Lysaght DNP, RN, MSN was appointed as the Associate Director for Patient Care Services effective April 28, 2019. Mrs. Lysaght joined the VA system in 2003 and was appointed the Associate Director for Patient Care Services at the Miami VA Healthcare System on April 12, 2010. Prior to assuming this position, Mrs. Lysaght served as the Director of Case Management & Utilization Management at the Culinary Health Fund and Director of Quality for the Health Services Coalition in Las Vegas which included 23 health plans encompassing 350 thousand lives. In addition, she previously held academic and leadership/administrative positions at the Loma Linda VAMC, Victor Valley California College, St. Jude California Medical Center, Santa Ana Western Medical Center, and the Desert Valley Hospital in California. Mrs. Lysaght is Board Certified in Executive Nursing Practice and has an extensive background in case management, as an educator, quality management specialist, and administrator. She received her Bachelor’s in Science from the California State University – Fullerton (CSUF); a Master’s in Science in Nursing from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA); and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice in Executive Health System Leadership from the University of San Francisco. Mrs. Lysaght was born in Trinidad and enjoys cultural festivities and loves to travel. She manages to effectively balance a successful and demanding nursing leadership position with work and family life. She is a wife, mother and grandmother.

Jennifer Worley was appointed as the Associate Director, Operations for the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLAHS) effective March 3, 2019. As the Associate Director, Operations, Ms. Worley will oversee the operations of Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Environmental Management Service, Police Service, Nutrition & Food Service and have a liaison role with VISN22 Prosthetics, Veterans Canteen Service and OI&T. Prior to this position, Ms. Worley served as the Chief of Nutrition and Food Services (NFS) at GLAHS, a position she has held since 2009. She provided leadership to and managed the largest NFS within Veterans Health Administration. In addition, Ms. Worley served in several Acting positions in GLAHS as the Acting Assistant Director (now titled Associate Director, Operations) and Acting Associate Director (now titled Associate Director, Resources). |Ms. Worley started her professional career at GLAHS after completing the VA dietetic internship at West Los Angeles in 1998 and became a Registered Dietitian. After 9 years as an inpatient clinical dietitian, she was selected as the Assistant Chief, NFS and soon became Chief, NFS. Ms. Worley is a graduate of California State University at Long Beach, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Food Administration and Master of Science in Nutritional Science. Ms. Worley completed the VISN 21/22 Leadership Development Institute in 2005. She is a proud native of Los Angeles.

Ms. Prachi Asher was appointed as the Associate Director, Resources for the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, effective June 24, 2019. Previously, Ms. Asher was the Assistant Director at the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System for eight years. Ms. Asher received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She continued her studies earning a Master’s in Health Services Administration and MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Asher joined the VA in 2004, starting her VA career at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center, in Cincinnati Ohio. She has also held positions at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and served a detail as the Assistant Director at the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She is a certified clinical engineer and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). From October 1, 2012 to May 31, 2013, Ms. Asher served as the VA Loma Linda Healthcare System Acting Associate Director for Administration. She also assumed the role as Acting Associate Director for Administration from October 1 - November 30, 2014.
