Santa Maria VA Clinic Hosts Open House and Job Resource Fair for Veterans

July 29, 2013

LOS ANGELES – VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLA) is hosting an open house for Veterans at the Santa Maria Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) on 8 Aug. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Veterans and family members can receive information about VA programs, local job opportunities and healthcare enrollment.

“We hope local area Veterans will take this opportunity to visit their VA Santa Maria Clinic,” said Charles Green, GLA Outreach Supervisor.  “We encourage Veterans who have never used the VA Healthcare System to stop by and check on their eligibility.  For enrolled Veterans who have not seen a primary care provider in a few years we ask that you come on by as well to get a check-up or take this moment to learn about new VA programs.”

VA’s Patient Education Resource Center, MOVE weight loss program, National Cemetery and Veteran Benefits Administration personnel are some of the few VA vendors rounding out the list of participants.

Veterans and family members visiting the open house can enjoy a free lunch prepared by GLA’s Voluntary Service.  Each Veteran in attendance will also receive a VA Tote Bag and USB Stylus Pen while supplies last.  As an added bonus, Veterans who meet eligibility requirements and enroll in the VA Healthcare System for the first time, receive an MP3 Player.

“The bottom line is we are here to take care of the Veterans,” said Green.  “Veterans of all eras including Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn are welcome to attend and learn more about their VA healthcare benefits.”
