VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System
VAGLAHS hosts Homeless-to-Housed Veterans Stand-Down Event
October 28, 2015
Los Angeles – The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) is honored to host the Homeless-to-Housed Veteran’s Stand-down event starting at 6:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, and ending at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015. The event will be held at building 257, the new Veteran's Welcome Center, 11301 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90073 (North Campus).
The event presents a safe time and place where Homeless Veterans can remove themselves from the struggle of the streets to receive much needed services in support of their wellbeing and provide them with crucial services for housing. Supported by United Hunters and PATH, the Stand Down is also made possible through the VA’s collaboration with many community partners, including government agencies, volunteers, non-profits, businesses, social service providers, and faith-based organizations. The stand down is a significant symbol to the Veteran community, as it represents the first one to take place on the VA West Los Angeles campus.
The Homeless to Housed stand down event is one way the VAGLAHS hopes to connect Veterans experiencing Homelessness to a permanent housing program, immediate interim housing, and supportive services to improve their health, access to income, and overall wellbeing.
